A great-great grandparent
Here is the only great-great grandparent picture that I have.
She is Elizabeth Drinkard, born in 1822, the wife of James Layne, and the
mother of Emma Haskins Layne who married my great-grandfather, John D Stepp (Steppe). Elizabeth was the
daughter of Archibald Drinkard (a Revolutionary War veteran) and Judith Pendleton.
An 1858 roll of Mount Vernon Baptist Church, in Campbell County, lists Elizabeth
and husband James Layne as members. Also listed are Martha Liston and husband James Step, the parents of John D
Stepp. Elizabeth is listed in the 1880
census living in the Campbell County home of her son-in-law John D Stepp. The picture was provided
by Cathy Day, wife of my third cousin Buddy Day.
