23 MONGOLIAN INSTRUMENTS

 

The Mongolian Sihu is a four stringed bowed instrument. Notice that the strings are several inches above what would be the finger board.

 

The Dombra is a four stringed strummed instrument.

 

The Hammered Dulcimer.

 

This ensemble features several of traditional Mongolian instruments.  There are three Morin Khuur (horse head fiddle) and one large bass which is bowed or plucked. There is a side blown flute, A Dombura (a kind of lute), a Yatga (a kind of long zither) and a hammered dulcimer.
