Rivermont Park (page 1)

Rivermont park is situated high above the James River. A railroad at the foot of the cliff runs between the park and the river.  And a railroad crosses the river on this trestle at the west end of the park. Many young people have trespassed on this trestle and lost their lives when a train caught them there.

At the west end of the park a trail begins on the cliff above the river. As you enter the trail you see the railroad bridge stepping over the river far below. The trail has several sets of steps and winds towards the east, hanging to the cliff until it comes out at the overlook near the east end of the park.
