3 1/2 Models

The 3 1/2 set was redesigned in 1936 and got the large base plates; and 20 new, large, and spectacular models. Whoever designed the models took full advantage of the limited capabilities of the set. The models were so good that they survived after Gilbert Erector no longer existed; being copied in the newer style of parts. Here are 10 of the 3 1/2 set models, built with the 4 1/2 set that I got as a boy one Christmas.

Gantry Crane This is the largest of the 3 1/2 set models, it is about 2 feet long and 1 1/2 feet high.

Drawbridge

Elevator with Counterweight

Ferris Wheel

Hoist

Revolving Dock Hoist

Snow Remover This 3 1/2 model, with cardboard snow scoops, got the wind-up motor in the 4 1/2 set.

Truck Cranes and Trucks were basic Erector models.

Walking Beam Engine Also a basic Erector model.

Portable Jib Crane This is my favorite. It had a lot of play value.
